IMPRESS 2 - Metrology for air pollutant emissions

Standardization of pollutant emission measurements

Starting year: 2017

Topic:

  • Fuels
  • Environment

Funding: EMPIR (EU)
Duration: 2017-2020

Impress 2 aims at improving and updating the methods of measuring pollutant emissions to achieve a higher level of standardization and meet the requirements of current and future air quality regulations. In an effort to protect citizens’ life quality, limits on air pollutants are becoming increasingly stringent while new restrictions continue to be introduced for previously unregulated pollutants, such as ammonia and hydrogen fluoride, which are not covered by EU-approved standard measurement methods. This project will start from the results of the previous EMRP ENV60 Impress project to try to fill this gap by developing new measurement methods, addressing the issue of quantifying uncertainty in flow measurements and studying next-generation techniques in view of the introduction of increasingly strict restrictions. Innovhub SSI will primarily be dealing with flow rate and biomass particulate measurements.
