Fuels Unit

Evaluation and control of the characteristics of fuels. Specific skills in the analytical field and global assessment of issues related to energy, environmental and safety performance of fossil fuels and alternative energy sources.

Innovhub SSI's Fuels Business Unit is an institutional reference point for the evaluation and control of the characteristics of fuels, whose services are primarily aimed at the importing, producing and processing industries of natural gas, crude oil and solid fuels.

Decades of activity and a long tradition of strong collaboration with the reference industrial sectors have allowed the Unit to acquire solid skills concerning traditional fuels, alternative energy sources and industrial safety.

The laboratory offers testing services, covering both environmental and motor-related aspects, for specific customers' requests as well as support and technical advice for companies and public organizations. But the Fuels Unit expertise goes far beyond the mere analytical-consultative field, extending to the global assessment of the issues related to energy, environmental and safety performance of fossil fuels and alternative energy sources.

An important part of business, which contributes to increasing the institutional prestige of this Unit, is the participation in the standardization activity at any level and its commitment to R&D, which is testified by the numerous studies and investigations undertaken over the years on topics of interest for the reference industrial sectors and by the research work conducted on third parties' commission. The Unit is very active in the dissemination of the technical-scientific culture on fuels and the related technological, regulatory, environmental and safety aspects, being particularly aware of the importance of a correct perception of the environmental problems by local communities.

Certifications and awards

Since 1991, following the authorization of the Ministry of Health, the Unit has been officially eligible to carry out chemical-physical tests according to the Italian Good Laboratory Practices legislation.

The Fuels Business Unit is accredited by ACCREDIA as a laboratory operating in compliance with UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 standard for the performance of analyses and tests concerning the evaluation of liquid, solid and gaseous fuels.
